It is so nice to see nature awakening from Winter. I think perhaps Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons of the year.

Pheasant
We went to Fingringhoe Wick on Tuesday. The sun was shining and it was warm out of the wind. As we came out of the visitor centre this lovely Pheasant was walking very close to the door. Managed to grab a couple of shots before he decided to get camera shy.

Night time photography
Last week we went to London for a few nights. We thought that we wanted to be tourists in our own capital city, as we have been to many others around the world.
Want a brilliant time we had, although the weather was a bit rubbish, raining mostly. One of the things I wanted to try the most was some night photography. Here are a few of the shots that I have got. I hope you enjoy them.

Just released my own website.....

Well this is the front page to my new website, not sure how much traffic it will get, but I thought "Hey, why not give it a go".
I used Photium.co.uk to host the website, and it was so easy to use their templates to create a professional looking site, without having to learn complicated HTML code.
Please take a look at my new website. http://www.mhdigital.co.uk

Colourful boats.
Really good to get out with the Camera today. Started a walk around 3ish, looked like it was going to rain. Had a little snow, but that soon stopped. Eventually the weather improved, and ended up seeing the sun and blue sky!!
Love all the colours on these boats and nets.
The combination of the Canon 5D MKII and the 24-105mm lens still amaze me, and I am soooooooo enjoying using them together.
Hopefully in the next few weeks, we will be going to London, watch this space.

Beach Huts
Taken with the combination of the Canon 5DMKII and Canon 24-105mm f/4L lens. It make a beautiful combination too.
I was worried about paying for an L series lens, as they are expensive, but it only took a few minutes to realised that I had made a good choice. I will be using this lens as a walkabout lens, but more importantly I will try this for Landscape shots.
I will let you know how it works out.

Curlew in Flight
There are talks about the Canon 5D MKII not being good to capture action, but so far I have found this to be the case. OK so a flying Curlew is not the fastest thing in the world, but you still have to track it through the air turning on your toes.
I'll let you be the judge of the shot.

Oyster Catcher in Flight
Very happy with the performance of the 5D MKII focusing with the Sigma 150-500mm in OS2 mode.
Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/800)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 500 mm
ISO: 640
Allium Seed Head
I was worried that the 5D MKII wouldn't be a good combination with the Sigma 105mm Macro lens. But I think this one shows that it is a good combo.
Seed Heads
Taken this morning, applied some filters in CS4 to give it a warm feeling, but it was very cold outside!!
Lichen
The sun is out today, so out in the garden this morning taking some shots with the Canon 5D MKII and the Sigma 105mm Macro lens.
Very cold outside, still in the minus figures at 9.30am.

New kit.
Blue Tit
Come on, who doesn't like the cute little birds. At Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve, they have a feeding station outside the visitor centre, so they Blue Tit's and Great Tit's are used to people walking around. So it is possible to get very close to the birds.
This little bird was very interested in me, and was great that he looked straight at the camera.
Flock of Sanderlings
This was a lucky shot. I saw this flock taking off from the shoreline. I quickly changed the OS mode on the Sigma 150-500mm lens to OS2 which is the setting for panning and moving, hit the AI Focus on the Canon and fired off about 5 shots.
Lucky? I'll let you be the judge. :-)
Grey Plover
Taken at Fingringhoe Wick Nature reserve. This was the only Grey Plover that we saw this afternoon. We arrived before high tide, so that we could see the birds being pushed to the shoreline.
